What a Wonderful World

February 29, 2016

Jazz may have originated in New Orleans, but Louis Armstrong lived in Corona, Queens! Take a little trip to neighboring borough Queens and visit the home museum of the late Louis Armstrong. No one has lived in the house since the Armstrongs and today the house and its furnishings remain the same as when he and his wife lived there. The Louis Armstrong Home Museum is sure to thrill any jazz enthusiasts. Open to the public seven days a week, the museum offers guided tours of the home. On your tour, you can listen to audio clips from Louis’s homemade recordings of him practicing his trumpet. Visitors can also enjoy checking out the remains of "Satchmo’s Stuff", like his gold-plated trumpet, along with photos and manuscripts. After a fun day in Queens, come back to your home away from home for happy hour at the Polo Lounge.
