Our wine program at The Garden City Hotel is designed to be accessible and balanced in both style and value. The various offerings are carefully selected and reflect our overall philosophy. Our reserve encompasses a large array of sustainable, biodynamic and organic wines. During the production of these wines a strong emphasis is placed on the growing and harvesting process. As a result the grape varietals are unmasked revealing the wine's authentic characteristics. We strive to encourage guests to explore these treasures and taste the difference for themselves.
Each of our wine selections, such as Ehlers Estate Sauvignon Blanc from St. Helena, Napa Valley and a Manincor Pinot Noir from Alto Adige, Italy are deliberately chosen to pair with the cuisine. As our menu offerings are changed seasonally, so too are our wines-by-the-glass. In the summer, we offer crisp and lively wines, such as an oh-so-vital Rosé, to complement fresh, seasonal ingredients. In the cooler months, guests will find more complex and robust wines like a hearty Red Zinfandel from Joel Gott to enjoy with their meal.
Our collection includes some of the world's top wines with Bordeaux from Lafite and Mouton Rothschild, Latour, Margaux and Haut Brion. From Tuscany we serve Tignanello, Flaccianello and Sassicaia. We also offer verticals of Caymus Special Selection and Opus One. The list is organized by varietal to motivate our customers to sample a wine produced from a particular grape they already enjoy, but perhaps from a different region. By presenting the wines from lighter to more full bodied and from dry to sweet guests are easily able to distinguish the tasting properties of wine they will prefer.
The list also includes a style code to further aid guests in making decisions that best suit their tastes. For example, their aging process either in oak barrels or stainless steel tanks may categorize Chardonnays. This allows those who are partial to a particular process to find the wine they will prefer. Ultimately, our objective is to dismiss misconceptions and eliminate the complexity, uncertainty and intimidation of creating the perfect pairing.
We pride ourselves in our ability to offer guests a unique opportunity to expand their palate and discover new wines within our extensive selection.
