July 2009) The Garden City Hotel (45 Seventh Street, Garden City, NY [516] 747-3000 or www.gardencityhotel.com) signature restaurant, Rein, serves seasonal cocktails and martinis by the glass ($12.50) and to share ($45) on its new seasonal patio from 4:30 p.m. – 11:30 p.m.
Set in lush garden surroundings, the patio affords privacy in an open-air milieu for an intimate yet lively social scene. Amidst the lavish backdrop and rich heritage of The Garden City Hotel, the patio presents a new way to savor the classic offerings and chic ambience of the popular Rein. The menu of creative cocktails may also be enjoyed alongside Belgian Master Chef Steven De Bruyn’s “share, light fare and classics” such as Flying Pigs, mini Kobe beef hot dogs in a crispy kataifi-mustard crust with relish and mustard ($14); buffalo chicken wings with blue cheese, apple and celery ($15); and jumbo lump crab roll, crispy ginger and home-made potato chips ($22).
The first of two “big” specialty cocktails ($45), designed for summer and sharing, are a pitcher of GRAND SANGRIA made of Patron Silver Tequila, Grand Marnier, apricot and peach schnapps, Pinot Grigio; and finished with pineapple and orange juice. ABSINTHE FOR TWO, known as “la fée verte”, the Green Fairy is also available. By the glass ($12.50), seasonal libations include:
