PLANNERS ARE RAISING THEIR GLASSES TO TOAST
THE GARDEN CITY HOTEL'S NEW F&B OFFERING
- Long Island Hotel Introduces Wine-Pairing Cocktail Receptions -
GARDEN CITY, Long Island, NY (Apr. 15, 2005) - The Garden City Hotel, Long Island's premier
upscale venue for meetings and events, is now offering Wine-Pairing Cocktail Receptions, an
elegant and educational option for group functions.
"Private wine-pairing events have taken on a life of their own, becoming one of our most requested
options for small, intimate groups," said Nasser Samman, general manager of The Garden City Hotel.
"We wanted to find a way to expand this wonderful experience to larger group functions. By developing
a Wine-Pairing Cocktail Reception, we were able to accomplish this goal. We are proud to be the only
hotel in our region to offer this unique experience." Samman added.
Executive Chef Steven DeBryun, who also serves as the hotel's Wine Director, selects the wine to be
paired with each food choice. The meeting attendees have the benefit of speaking to and learning from
an award-winning culinary team to enhance their knowledge of international wines and gastronomic pairing
selections.
Individual food stations for Wine-Pairing Cocktail Receptions can be customized to any event theme or
culinary flair, reflecting the planner's overall vision and budget. A sample combination by Chef DeBruyn
is as follows:
- Seviche Station, paired with Sauvignon Blanc, Oyster Bay, New Zealand
- Thai Beef & Chicken Satay Station, paired with Pinot Gris, Paul Blanck, Alsace,
France 2003
- Long Island Lobster Roll Station, paired with Chardonnay, Palmer Vineyards,
Long Island, NY
- Carved Seared Rare Tuna on Tapenade Toast, Ratatouille & Caperberry
Aioli Station, paired with Grenache, Rose de Provence, Mas de Gourgonnier,
France
- Braised Oxtail Ravioli Station, paired with Barbera d'Alba, Moccagata, Italy
"At The Garden City Hotel, we feel that the debut of the Wine-Pairing Cocktail Reception will encourage
meeting attendees to expand their knowledge base of both food and wine. Our award-winning culinary team is
happy to be part of that educational process," said Steven DeBruyn, executive chef of The Garden City Hotel.
"The impressive display of hand-selected cuisine and spirits is always talked about long after the event is
over," DeBruyn added. The Garden City Hotel was recently granted Wine Spectator magazine's 2005 Award of
Excellence for the third consecutive year. The magazine's reputable, annual awards distinguish properties
from around the world that "recognize a commitment to a fine wine list, with a sufficient selection of better
producers along with a thematic match to the menu in both price and style."
In addition to culinary and service excellence, The Garden City Hotel provides meeting attendees with the
newest business amenities including WiFi Internet availability throughout the hotel, online check-in, and
an in-room technology feature that enables professionals to print a document from their laptop with the ease
of having it hand-delivered to them anywhere within the hotel.
Boasting 280 deluxe guestrooms and suites, 16 private meeting rooms (including three ballrooms), and more
than 25,000 square feet of meeting space, The Garden City Hotel, Long Island's premier luxury venue for
corporate meetings and events, has established a tradition of excellence since 1874.
