THE GARDEN CITY HOTEL’S JASON ELLIS WINS GOLD MEDAL FOR BEST WEDDING CAKE
GARDEN CITY, Long Island, NY (Jan. 21, 2004) – The Garden City Hotel, Long Island’s premiere venue for the most elegant
of wedding receptions, has announced pastry chef Jason Ellis as the gold medal recipient of the Societe Culinaire
Philantropique International competition, in the “Best Wedding Cake” category. The event was recently held during
the Hotel/Motel & Restaurant Show at the Jacob Javits Center in Manhattan, NY.
“The Garden City Hotel has always prided itself for maintaining a dedicated and exceptionally skilled culinary staff,” said
Joseph Borbèly, director of catering for the luxury property. “We are delighted that Jason was awarded with this honor, and
feel very grateful for having him as part of our team,” Borbèly added.
Ellis has been part of The Garden City Hotel culinary staff for close to two years. Prior to the hotel, he was the
pastry chef at the Grove Park Inn Resort & Spa in Asheville, NC. Ellis attended Johnson and Wales University in Providence,
RI.
