THE GARDEN CITY HOTEL'S REIN BAR & GRILL RECEIVES
DISTINGUISHED REVIEW FROM THE NEW YORK TIMES
GARDEN CITY, Long Island, NY (Feb. 27, 2003) - The Rein Bar & Grill, The Garden City Hotel's newest, in-vogue
lounge, features "Entrees and dishes that are alternately earthy and elegant, on what is perhaps Long Island's
most refined, rarefied bar menu," according to a recent review by Richard Jay Scholem, New York.
The review recognized the Rein Bar & Grill's stylish, inviting décor as yet another reason for its
prominence as a Long Island hot spot. Scholem also credits the bar-restaurant's "impressive fireplace…
massive wooden columns, piano, plush carpeting and lounge touches," for adding to the sophistication of
this prestigious, yet relaxed atmosphere.
World-renowned architect and designer Robert DiLeonardo took pleasure in creating the hotel's newest
environment. DiLeonardo's credits include full-scale renovations at The Plaza Hotel, as well as hundreds
of resorts, restaurants, and hotels worldwide, including the award-winning Ritz-Carlton Sharm El Sheikh on
the shores of the Red Sea.
or the Rein Bar and Grill, DiLeonardo chose comfortable, oversized lounge furniture that resembles a
collection of different styles and textures. The color palette consists of a red, bronze, black and gold
scheme with leathers, stone, and rich walnut paneling. The window dressings comprise a warm red balloon
sheer and large gold velvet drapery. The lush carpet is highlighted by a paisley, axminster design in
shades of red and gold. "A blend of a traditional environment combined with unexpected and eclectic colors
and textures was essential for the warm and sophisticated ambiance of Rein Bar & Grill," said DiLeonardo.
The final touches included a rear lit onyx bar with plasma television screens and custom artwork.
Graciously housed to the left of the Garden City Hotel's lobby, The Rein Bar & Grill is open for breakfast,
lunch and diner seven days a week, including a late night menu. Live entertainment is featured on Tuesdays,
Thursdays and Saturdays. The cuisine ranges from traditional favorites such as buffalo chicken wings and
grilled hamburgers to signature dishes such as "Tuna Martini," a poke style tuna dish with avocado
and "oranje" vodka granite. Its signature cocktail, "The Reinmaker," is a refreshing blend of Gray Goose
L'Orange and Apple Pucker. The cold beverage is laced with Grenadine and garnished with a slice of Red
Delicious Apple and an orange wedge.
