As part of the Fortuna Realty Group, The Garden City Hotel is part of an expanding hotel group with a current property in New York City (Hotel Indigo in Chelsea) in addition to The Garden City Hotel. Food and Beverage
Private Dining Coordinator
Responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, assisting guests in planning special events in The Polo Steakhouse, Polo Lounge, The Patio and guest suites. Prior experience as an event coordinator in a fine dining restaurant or small catering venues is required. Must be versed in menu and beverage knowledge in order to upsell dining options. We are looking for a hospitality professional with a desire to continue their career path in a luxury setting. Working knowledge of Open Table and Micros is required. Compensation includes hourly pay rate plus applicable percentage of dining sales.
Polo Server - PM Shift
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, take food and beverage orders, retrieve and serve alcoholic/non-alcoholic beverages and food orders to guest tables according to hotel specifications, courteously and efficiently. Ensure proper payments are received for all orders. Assist in the maintenance of the Restaurant area and equipment. Proven knowledge of menu items, wines and liquors is required. This position requires experience as a Server in an upscale, fine dining environment. Excellent interpersonal skills are required.
Polo Server - Breakfast
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, take food and beverage orders, retrieve and serve alcoholic/non-alcoholic beverages and food orders to guest tables according to hotel specifications, courteously and efficiently. Ensure proper payments are received for all orders. Assist in the maintenance of the Restaurant area and equipment. This position requires experience as a Server in an upscale dining environment. Excellent interpersonal skills and flexibility with scheduling is required. This position is for Breakfast service; shift will start at 5:30am.
Polo Bus Attendant/Barback
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, assist Captain, Server, Bartender and Cocktail Servers in providing quality food and beverage service to guests according to Hotel specifications, courteously and efficiently. Stock all wares and equipment needed for service. Stock Bars with designated supplies, ensuring no shortages for guest service. Maintain cleanliness of tables, work areas and equipment according to Hotel specifications.
Polo Hostess/Host – Part Time
Responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, courteously greet and escort guests to tables and assist in seating, ensuring Hotel standards of service. Assist in preparing the Restaurant for service and maintaining the cleanliness of the room at all times. Take reservations and maintain reservation book, assist in monitoring the guests’ needs. Experience with 'Open Table' preferred but not required. Computer skills are required. Experience in a fine dining restaurant preferred.
Polo Cocktail Server
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, take orders, retrieve and serve alcoholic, non-alcoholic beverages and small plates to guests, courteously and efficiently according to Hotel specifications. Assist in the maintenance of the outlet area and equipment. You must have fine dining restaurant experience and full knowledge of liquors and wines.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, wash and sanitize pots, pans and other Kitchen utensils/equipment according to Hotel specifications and standards. Clean and maintain equipment in Pot washing/Dish washing/Kitchen/Cafeteria/Compactor/Storage areas. Assist in washing wares by operating the dishwashing machine. Complete other special cleaning projects as assigned. Prior dishwashing experience in restaurant/hotel or cleaning in a commercial environment will be a plus.

Maintain cleanliness and condition of work areas and equipment. . Applicants should have good people skills and a pleasant personality. Must have prior Server experience in catering and or fine dining establishment. Our servers earn base pay plus lucrative gratuities.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, assisting brides with wedding preparations on the day of their wedding such as assisting with dressing, makeup and hair styling, communicating the bride’s wishes to other attendants and family members, offer moral support and understanding to the bride, lend a listening ear during a hectic time and trouble shoot the inevitable problems that arise during the wedding day, instill a sense of trust with the bride that you are there for any need she has on the most important day of her life.
Convention Services Houseman, Part Time
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, set up designated function rooms to group's requirements in accordance with Hotel standards. Maintain cleanliness and working condition of all respective equipment, guest and service areas. Flexibility with scheduling is required. This is a guest contact position; you must have excellent interpersonal skills. Prior experience preferred.
Guest Service Dispatcher/Attendant
Provide administrative and guest service support for In Room Dining, Housekeeping and Engineering. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, computer input, filing, tracing, answering telephones, printing reports, maintain departmental records/logs for guest service requests, take and input guests' Room Service orders; ensure receipt of orders by Servers and settle checks in the P.O.S. system according to Hotel specifications, process payment of guest checks in accordance with Accounting requirements and maintain accountability for all financial transactions. Also, provide prompt, courteous and efficient handling of all incoming calls and assistance for outgoing calls that transpire through PBX. Applicant must be fluent in English, well- spoken have a clear and friendly phone voice, be detail oriented, be able to multitask in an extremely fast paced environment. Previous hotel or food and beverage experience is a definite plus. Working experience of Micros and HotSos is highly desired but will train the right candidate.
Business Development Manager Group Sales
Looking for an energetic, goal oriented, results driven, professional hotel sales person. Must be able to develop new group business within the corporate market segment for the hotel. Candidate must understand the flow of business on Long Island, NYC and other Feeder Markets. Also, solicit new and existing accounts to meet/exceed revenue goals through telephone prospecting, outside sales calls, site inspections and written communication. Meet and and/or exceed set prospecting goals each week for new account development. Focus on Corporate and Association market segments and develop new relationships within a specific geographical area. Time Management; focus on revenue –producing activity and maximize selling time by dedicating a minimum of 75% work time on direct sales efforts.
Housekeeping Floor Manager
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: prepare and distribute assignment sheets to assigned staff and review priorities. Supervise, train and inspect the performance of all Housekeeping/Laundry/Valet staff ensuring that all procedures are completed according to standard. Assist where necessary to ensure optimum service to guests. Monitor and maintain cleanliness, sanitation and organization of assigned work areas. Maintain complete knowledge at all times of status of hotel room count, group arrival, VIP’s, special events and knowledge of job responsibility of staff. Complete other Housekeeping assignments as directed by the Executive Housekeeper. Must have prior luxury hotel Housekeeping management experience. Must possess excellent supervisory and interpersonal skills. Must be flexible with scheduling availability.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, clean and maintain all corridors, vending areas, elevators and landings, and service areas on guest room floors, ensuring hotel's standards of cleanliness. Provide linen & glass supplies for Room Attendants and stock floor closets. Deliver and retrieve items requested by guests and Floor Supervisor. Complete other cleaning projects as assigned by Executive Housekeeper. Flexibility with scheduling is required.
Housekeeping Room Attendant – AM and PM shifts available
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to clean guest rooms as assigned, ensuring the hotel's established standards of cleanliness. Responsible for reporting any maintenance deficiencies and handling guest requests or complaints. Ensures the confidentiality and security of all guest rooms. Complete other cleaning projects as assigned by Executive Housekeeper. Flexibility with scheduling is required.
This position is responsible for processing all soiled hotel bed linens, terry and food and beverage table linens by operating all laundry/dry cleaning machinery according to hotel standards; clean, press and finish staff and guest garments. Also responsible for handling guest laundry requests, transporting guest laundry to laundry room and returning cleaned laundry to guest room.
Reservation Sales Agent
Reservations Sales Agents play a leading role in generating revenue for the hotel. They field nearly all inquiries for transient reservations and must convert as many of these calls as possible into confirmed reservations. After quoting rates appropriate to specific requests, they must obtain agreement from the caller and confirm a reservation. They must be able to follow sell strategy as determined by revenue management; listen and communicate effectively with a wide range of callers; close the sale; and input detailed information into the property management system (Opera), accurately and efficiently. The position is also responsible for providing overall reservations support for the hotel. They are responsible for handling group blocks and inputting rooming lists, selling gift certificates, processing travel agent commissions, and proper coding of market segments and corporate accounts. Ideal candidate will have prior experience in the travel agency or hotel industry. Must be flexible with schedules and be able to work holidays, weekends and some nights, till 9pm. Guest Service Agent
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, check-in/check-out hotel guests courteously and efficiently; process all payments according to established hotel requirements; provide information and assistance to all guests and visitors; provide prompt, courteous and efficient handling of all requests for guest room reservations, changes, cancellations and information; provide prompt, courteous and efficient handling of all incoming calls and assistance for outgoing calls that transpire through PBX. Also play an integral part in assisting with emergencies, (fire, medical, power/system failure) by contacting the designated personnel for immediate assistance. This is a full time position that requires flexibility with scheduling. Hotel experience preferred.
