As part of the Fortuna Realty Group, The Garden City Hotel is part of an expanding hotel group with a current property in New York City (Hotel Indigo in Chelsea) in addition to The Garden City Hotel. We also have additional properties currently under development in New York City. Our company goal is to continue to expand by acquiring and developing assets. Food and Beverage

Pastry Chef

The Pastry Chef will supervise and coordinate the activities of cooks engaged in the preparation of desserts, pastries, confections, and ice cream.  Essential duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:  Fine dining and banquet production of creatively decorated upscale desserts, cakes, breads and pastries; Planning production for Pastry Department according to menu or special requirements; Supplying recipes for, and suggesting methods and procedures to Pastry Cooks; Creating table and pastry decorations (such as statuaries and sugar paste and icing ornaments); Requisitioning supplies and equipment.  Responsible for management of pastry staff, inventory and overall operation of pastry kitchen.  Excellent managerial and interpersonal skills required.

Polo Server

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, take food and beverage orders, retrieve and serve alcoholic/non-alcoholic beverages and food orders to guest tables according to hotel specifications, courteously and efficiently. Ensure proper payments are received for all orders. Assist in the maintenance of the Restaurant area and equipment. Proven knowledge of menu items, wines and liquors is required. This position requires experience as a Server in an upscale, fine dining environment. Excellent interpersonal skills are required.

Polo Cocktail Server

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, take orders, retrieve and serve alcoholic, non-alcoholic beverages and small plates to guests, courteously and efficiently according to Hotel specifications. Assist in the maintenance of the outlet area and equipment. You must have fine dining restaurant experience and full knowledge of liquors and wines.

Polo Bartender

We are seeking an experienced bartender for our Polo Lounge. The position is responsible to take orders, prepare and serve alcoholic, non-alcoholic beverages and light meals to guest, courteously and efficiently according to the hotel standards. Maintain stock/supplies and cleanliness of outlet and equipment.

Polo Hostess/Host

Responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, courteously greet and escort guests to tables and assist in seating, ensuring Hotel standards of service.  Assist in preparing the Restaurant for service and maintaining the cleanliness of the room at all times.  Take reservations and maintain reservation book, assist in monitoring the guests’ needs.  Experience with 'Open Table' preferred but not required.  Computer skills are required.  Experience in a fine dining restaurant preferred.

Polo Runner

Once our guests place their order and their meal is prepared, the Food Runner is responsible for delivering the plate timely and must ensure the meal is presented properly on each plate.  Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to, assisting Polo staff with clearing and cleaning tables, refilling water glasses and drinks, maintaining cleanliness of the restaurant and prep areas, returning plates to the Kitchen, assisting with guest questions/concerns.  The ideal candidate will have prior restaurant experience, must be efficient, detail oriented and have excellent guest service, communication and interpersonal skills.  Schedule can include AM or PM shifts, weekends and holidays.

Culinary Positions

We are currently accepting resumes for the following Culinary positions: Pastry Cook, Line Cook. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, planning, prep, set up and provide quality service in all areas of food production for menu items and specials in designated outlets in accordance with standards and plating guide specifications. Must be able to read and follow menus and recipes. Visually inspect, select, and utilize only food items of the highest quality in the preparation of menu items. Perform other tasks as assigned by the Executive and Sous Chefs.   Maintain organization, cleanliness and sanitation of work areas and equipment. Banquet Cook candidates must have high volume, Banquet experience. Flexibility with scheduling is required. Formal culinary training required.

Banquet Server (Part Time)

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: set up assigned tables, retrieve and serve alcoholic, non-alcoholic beverages and food orders to guest tables according to Hotel specifications and group requirements, courteously and efficiently. Maintain cleanliness and condition of work areas and equipment. . Applicants should have good people skills and a pleasant personality. Must have prior Server experience in catering and or fine dining establishment. Our servers earn base pay plus lucrative gratuities.

Convention Services Houseman (Part Time)

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, set up designated function rooms to group's requirements in accordance with Hotel standards. Maintain cleanliness and working condition of all respective equipment, guest and service areas. Flexibility with scheduling is required. This is a guest contact position; you must have excellent interpersonal skills. Prior experience preferred.

Rooms Division

 

Housekeeping Room Attendant – AM and PM shifts, and Part Time Evening shifts available

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to clean guest rooms as assigned, ensuring the hotel's established standards of cleanliness. Responsible for reporting any maintenance deficiencies and handling guest requests or complaints. Ensures the confidentiality and security of all guest rooms. Complete other cleaning projects as assigned by Executive Housekeeper. Flexibility with scheduling is required.

Housekeeping Houseman

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, clean and maintain all corridors, vending areas, elevators and landings, and service areas on guest room floors, ensuring hotel's standards of cleanliness. Provide linen & glass supplies for Room Attendants and stock floor closets. Deliver and retrieve items requested by guests and Floor Supervisor. Complete other cleaning projects as assigned by Executive Housekeeper. Flexibility with scheduling is required.

Guest Service Dispatcher / ONE Desk Attendant

Provide administrative and guest service support for In Room Dining, Housekeeping and Engineering. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, computer input, filing, tracing, answering telephones, printing reports, maintain departmental records/logs for guest service requests, take and input guests' Room Service orders; ensure receipt of orders by Servers and settle checks in the P.O.S. system according to Hotel specifications, process payment of guest checks in accordance with Accounting requirements and maintain accountability for all financial transactions. Also, provide prompt, courteous and efficient handling of all incoming calls and assistance for outgoing calls that transpire through PBX. Applicant must be fluent in English, well- spoken have a clear and friendly phone voice, be detailoriented, be able to multitask in an extremely fast paced environment. Previous hotel or food and beverage experience is a definite plus. Working experience of Micros and HotSos is highly desired but will train the right candidate.
