As part of the Fortuna Realty Group, The Garden City Hotel is part of an expanding hotel group with a current property in New York City (Hotel Indigo in Chelsea) in addition to The Garden City Hotel. We also have additional properties currently under development in New York City. Our company goal is to continue to expand by acquiring and developing assets. The ideal candidate will be a college graduate with hotel experience, preferably in a 4 Star Hotel. Must have knowledge of budget preparation and cost controls, must be organized with great attention to detail, must have excellent interpersonal skills to lead the Accounting team, must be a self starter who can work without direct supervision and must be guest service oriented.
Food and Beverage
The ideal candidate will have fine dining, upscale restaurant experience. You will have expertise in restaurant operations, personnel management, and employee training and development. You must be a dedicated hands-on trainer, who strives for and demands excellence, able to guide and teach staff to be fully knowledgeable of menus, sales and service. Excellent knowledge of menu design including cuisine, ingredients and wine is required. Proven financial skills and computer skills are required. Demonstrated leadership and team building are a must. You must also possess highly developed interpersonal and communications skills. The ability to diplomatically interface with all peers is essential. You will be able to work independently as well as part of a dynamic team. You will be fluid in your ability to multi-task and strategize against changing priorities. You must be able to remain calm under pressure and maintain a consistently high level of service standards. You must possess a strong dining room presence. Hostess/Host – PT
Responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, courteously greet and escort guests to tables and assist in seating, ensuring Hotel standards of service. Assist in preparing the Restaurant for service and maintaining the cleanliness of the room at all times. Take reservations and maintain reservation book, assist in monitoring the guests’ needs. Candidate with Open Table, and Micros experience highly preferred.
Become part of our fine dining service team in our newly opened Polo Steakhouse and Polo Lounge serving our valued clientele. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, assist Captain and Server in providing quality food and beverage service to guests according to Hotel specifications, courteously and efficiently. Maintain cleanliness of tables, service areas and equipment. Stock all wares and equipment needed for service.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to plan, prep, set up and prepare quality products in all areas of the Pastry/Bake Shop to include, but not limited to, pastries, desserts, breads, ice creams, sorbets, creams, simple syrups, jams, displays/centerpieces in accordance with departmental quality standards and specifications. Maintain organization, cleanliness and sanitation of work areas and equipment.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, plan, prep, set up and provide quality service in all areas of food production for menu items and specials in the designated outlets in accordance with standards and plating guide specifications. Maintain organization, cleanliness and sanitation of work areas and equipment. You must have fine dining restaurant experience to be considered for this position.
Room Service Cook – Overnight (11pm – 7am) The Room Service Cook is responsible for maintaining, setting up, food production, and overall quality of all food items cooked for Room Service. Prepares all food items according to standard recipes and as specified by guest check to ensure consistency of product. Visually inspects, selects, and utilizes only food items of the highest quality in the preparation of menu items. Maintain clean working environment and perform other tasks as assigned by the executive and sous chefs. Applicants must have fine dining restaurant experience to be considered for this position.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, wash and sanitize pots, pans and other Kitchen utensils/equipment according to Hotel specifications and standards. Clean and maintain equipment in Pot washing/Dish washing/Kitchen/Cafeteria/Compactor/Storage areas. Assist in washing wares by operating the dishwashing machine. Complete other special cleaning projects as assigned. Prior dishwashing experience in restaurant/hotel or cleaning in a commercial environment will be a plus.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: set up assigned tables, retrieve and serve alcoholic, non-alcoholic beverages and food orders to guest tables according to Hotel specifications and group requirements, courteously and efficiently. Maintain cleanliness and condition of work areas and equipment. . Applicants should have good people skills and a pleasant personality. Must have prior server experience in catering and or fine dining set up. Our servers earn base pay plus lucrative gratuities.
Convention Services Houseman, Part Time
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, set up designated function rooms to group's requirements in accordance with Hotel standards. Maintain cleanliness and working condition of all respective equipment, guest and service areas. Flexibility with scheduling is required. This is a guest contact position; you must have excellent interpersonal skills. Prior experience preferred.
Business Development Manager Group Sales
Looking for an energetic, goal oriented, results driven, professional hotel sales person. Must be able to develop new group business within the corporate market segment for the hotel. Candidate must understand the flow of business on Long Island, NYC and other Feeder Markets. Also, solicit new and existing accounts to meet/exceed revenue goals through telephone prospecting, outside sales calls, site inspections and written communication. Meet and and/or exceed set prospecting goals each week for new account development. Focus on Corporate and Association market segments and develop new relationships within a specific geographical area. Time Management; focus on revenue –producing activity and maximize selling time by dedicating a minimum of 75% work time on direct sales efforts.
Reservations Sales Agents play a leading role in generating revenue for the hotel. They field nearly all inquiries for transient reservations and must convert as many of these calls as possible into confirmed reservations. After quoting rates appropriate to specific requests, they must obtain agreement from the caller and confirm a reservation. They must be able to follow sell strategy as determined by revenue management; listen and communicate effectively with a wide range of callers; close the sale; and input detailed information into the property management system (Opera), accurately and efficiently. The position is also responsible for providing overall reservations support for the hotel. They are responsible for handling group blocks and inputting rooming lists, selling gift certificates, processing travel agent commissions, and proper coding of market segments and corporate accounts. Ideal candidate will have prior experience in the travel agency or hotel industry.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, clean and maintain all corridors, vending areas, elevators and landings, and service areas on guest room floors, ensuring hotel's standards of cleanliness. Provide linen & glass supplies for Room Attendants and stock floor closets. Deliver and retrieve items requested by guests and Floor Supervisor. Complete other cleaning projects as assigned by Executive Housekeeper. Flexibility with scheduling is required.
Housekeeping Room Attendant (hours 9:30 – 6pm)
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to clean guest rooms as assigned, ensuring the hotel's established standards of cleanliness. Responsible for reporting any maintenance deficiencies and handling guest requests or complaints. Ensures the confidentiality and security of all guest rooms. Complete other cleaning projects as assigned by Executive Housekeeper. Flexibility with scheduling is required.
This position is responsible for processing all soiled hotel bed linens, terry and food and beverage table linens by operating all laundry/dry cleaning machinery according to hotel standards; clean, press and finish staff and guest garments. Also responsible for handling guest laundry requests, transporting guest laundry to laundry room and returning cleaned laundry to guest room.
Valet Parking – PT
Responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, drive, park and retrieve guest/visitor vehicles as they arrive and depart from the hotel, courteously, safely and efficiently according to the hotel's standards. Working conditions include, but are not limited to, being exposed to all weather conditions and standing for extended periods of time. Applicants must have a valid driver's license and a clean record. You must have prior customer service experience and excellent communication skills.
