Food and Beverage

Polo Server - am and pm shifts

Become part of our fine dining service team in our newly opened Polo Steakhouse and Polo Lounge serving our valued clientele. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, take food and beverage orders, retrieve and serve alcoholic/non-alcoholic beverages and food orders to guest tables according to hotel specifications, courteously and efficiently. Ensure proper payments are received for all orders. Assist in the maintenance of the Restaurant area and equipment. Proven knowledge of menu items, wines and liquors is required. This position requires experience as a Server in an upscale, fine dining environment. Excellent interpersonal skills are required.

Polo Cocktail Server

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, take orders, retrieve and serve alcoholic, non-alcoholic beverages and small plates to guests, courteously and efficiently according to Hotel specifications. Assist in the maintenance of the outlet area and equipment. You must have fine dining restaurant experience and full knowledge of liquors and wines.

Bartender

We are seeking bartenders with at least 3-5 years of experience in a high-end bar/fine dining environment. The position is responsible to take orders, prepare and serve alcoholic, non-alcoholic beverages and light meals to guest, courteously and efficiently according to the hotel standards. Applicants must have strong spirit and wine knowledge and be able to mix drinks with the right ingredients. Maintain stock/supplies and cleanliness of outlet and equipment. Only candidates with experience and TIPS certification will be considered.

Hostess/Host – PT

Responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, courteously greet and escort guests to tables and assist in seating, ensuring Hotel standards of service. Assist in preparing the Restaurant for service and maintaining the cleanliness of the room at all times. Take reservations and maintain reservation book, assist in monitoring the guests’ needs. Candidate with Open Table, and Micros experience highly preferred.

In Room Dining Server - overnight (11pm – 7am)

Responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, delivering food and beverage orders to guest rooms according to Hotel specifications courteously and efficiently, assist in the maintenance and cleanliness of tables/trays, service areas and equipment, stock all wares and equipment needed for service, courteously and efficiently answer Room Service phones, take and input guests' orders; ensure receipt of orders and settle checks in the Micros system according to Hotel specifications. Applicants must have prior food and beverage serving experience, must be flexible with scheduling and must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills as this is a guest contact position.

Guest service dispatcher/attendant

Provide administrative and guest service support for In Room Dining, Housekeeping and Engineering. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, computer input, filing, tracing, answering telephones, printing reports, maintain departmental records/logs for guest service requests, take and input guests' Room Service orders; ensure receipt of orders by Servers and settle checks in the P.O.S. system according to Hotel specifications, process payment of guest checks in accordance with Accounting requirements and maintain accountability for all financial transactions. Also, provide prompt, courteous and efficient handling of all incoming calls and assistance for outgoing calls that transpire through PBX. Applicant must be fluent in English, well- spoken have a clear and friendly phone voice, be detail oriented, be able to multitask in an extremely fast paced environment. Previous hotel or food and beverage experience is a definite plus. Working experience of Micros and HotSos is highly desired but will train the right candidate.

Line Cook

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, plan, prep, set up and provide quality service in all areas of food production for menu items and specials in the designated outlets in accordance with standards and plating guide specifications. Maintain organization, cleanliness and sanitation of work areas and equipment. You must have fine dining restaurant experience to be considered for this position.

Room Service Cook – overnight (11pm – 7am)

The Room Service Cook is responsible for maintaining, setting up, food production, and overall quality of all food items cooked for Room Service. Prepares all food items according to standard recipes and as specified by guest check to ensure consistency of product. Visually inspects, selects, and utilizes only food items of the highest quality in the preparation of menu items. Maintain clean working environment and perform other tasks as assigned by the executive and sous chefs. Applicants must have fine dining restaurant experience to be considered for this position.

Pastry Supervisor

Successful applicants must be able to maintain a high standard of service, creativity and quality. Prepare all pastry items in accordance with the hotel quality standards and specifications. Will direct, train and supervise performance of Pastry Cooks. Maintain organization, cleanliness and sanitation of all food related work areas and equipment. Must be able to read and follow menus and recipes. Flexibility with scheduling is a must. This position will work under the guidance of Executive Chef and Assistant Pastry Chef. Formal culinary training required.

Potwasher/Dishwasher: day/evening shifts

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, wash and sanitize pots, pans and other Kitchen utensils/equipment according to Hotel specifications and standards. Clean and maintain equipment in Pot washing/Dish washing/Kitchen/Cafeteria/Compactor/Storage areas. Assist in washing wares by operating the dishwashing machine. Complete other special cleaning projects as assigned. Prior dishwashing experience in restaurant/hotel or cleaning in a commercial environment will be a plus.

Banquet Captain

The ideal candidate will have prior Banquet operations experience in a luxury hotel or catering facility.  You will report to our Banquet Directors and assist in supervising, training and inspecting the performance of staff; organize all assigned functions and complete preparation work in accordance with clients’ requests and hotel standards of service; follow up on special arrangements to ensure compliance; assist where necessary to ensure optimum service to all Catering functions.

Banquet Server

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: set up assigned tables, retrieve and serve alcoholic, non-alcoholic beverages and food orders to guest tables according to Hotel specifications and group requirements, courteously and efficiently. Maintain cleanliness and condition of work areas and equipment. . Applicants should have good people skills and a pleasant personality. Must have prior server experience in catering and or fine dining set up. Our servers earn base pay plus lucrative gratuities.

Convention Services Houseman, Part Time

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, set up designated function rooms to group's requirements in accordance with Hotel standards. Maintain cleanliness and working condition of all respective equipment, guest and service areas. Flexibility with scheduling is required. This is a guest contact position; you must have excellent interpersonal skills. Prior experience preferred.

Director of Revenue management

Responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, maximize revenue for The Garden City Hotel by implementing selling strategies and inventory restrictions to capture optimal revenue producing business based on future demand forecasts, current trends and historical data; communicate revenue management strategic vision to leadership team; run and develop reports for leadership team presenting sales strategy and forecasting; monitor comp set pricing; review and analyze industry reports such as STR, Hotelligence, etc.; work closely with Sales and Reservations teams to provide training and data collection. Prior experience in Revenue Management is required. Additional requirements include knowledge of competitive set, ability to navigate through Property Management system to track, forecast and implement selling strategies; possess excellent communication and presentation skills; ability to analyze financial statements and market data. Must possess experienced computer skills.

Rooms Division

Guest Service Agent

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, check-in/check-out hotel guests courteously and efficiently; process all payments according to established hotel requirements; provide information and assistance to all guests and visitors; provide prompt, courteous and efficient handling of all requests for guest room reservations, changes, cancellations and information; provide prompt, courteous and efficient handling of all incoming calls and assistance for outgoing calls that transpire through PBX. Also play an integral part in assisting with emergencies, (fire, medical, power/system failure) by contacting the designated personnel for immediate assistance. This is a full time position that requires flexibility with scheduling. Hotel experience preferred.

Housekeeping Floor Manager

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: prepare and distribute assignment sheets to assigned staff and review priorities.  Supervise, train and inspect the performance of all Housekeeping/Laundry/Valet staff ensuring that all procedures are completed according to standard.  Assist where necessary to ensure optimum service to guests.  Monitor and maintain cleanliness, sanitation and organization of assigned work areas.  Maintain complete knowledge at all times of status of hotel room count, group arrival, VIP’s, special events and knowledge of job responsibility of staff.  Complete other Housekeeping assignments as directed by the Executive Housekeeper. Must have prior luxury hotel Housekeeping management experience.  Must possess excellent supervisory and interpersonal skills.  Must be flexible with scheduling availability.

Housekeeping Houseman

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, clean and maintain all corridors, vending areas, elevators and landings, and service areas on guest room floors, ensuring hotel's standards of cleanliness. Provide linen & glass supplies for Room Attendants and stock floor closets. Deliver and retrieve items requested by guests and Floor Supervisor. Complete other cleaning projects as assigned by Executive Housekeeper. Flexibility with scheduling is required.

Housekeeping Room Attendant

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to clean guest rooms as assigned, ensuring the hotel's established standards of cleanliness. Responsible for reporting any maintenance deficiencies and handling guest requests or complaints. Ensures the confidentiality and security of all guest rooms. Complete other cleaning projects as assigned by Executive Housekeeper. Flexibility with scheduling is required.

Housekeeping Turndown attendant – PT

(Hours 5:30pm – 9:30pm, must be able to work weekends and holidays) Our Turndown Attendant will ensure the cleanliness and comfort of guest rooms prior to evening occupancy, and to provide special amenities per hotel standards to enhance guest experience. Responsibilities will include but not limited to; emptying trash, removing used room service items, replacing used glasses, towels, wiping down bathroom surfaces. Preparing the bed by removing bed covers, turning down linens, placing chocolate and special amenities. Candidate must have good communication skills

Valet Parking - PT

Responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, drive, park and retrieve guest/visitor vehicles as they arrive and depart from the hotel, courteously, safely and efficiently according to the hotel's standards. Working conditions include, but are not limited to, being exposed to all weather conditions and standing for extended periods of time. Applicants must have a valid driver's license and a clean record. You must have prior customer service experience and excellent communication skills.

Security

House Officer – PT some overnights

Monitors and patrols hotel to provide a safe environment for guests and employees and to minimize opportunities for loss or damage. Anticipates potential problems and reacts to disturbances and prohibited conduct both from guests, patrons and staff. Responds to emergency situations as needed. Responsible for ensuring policies and procedures are adhered to by staff and reports infractions to appropriate parties. Ideal candidate will have law enforcement background. All interested candidates must have NYS security guard license. Flexibility with scheduling required, must be able to work holidays, weekends and some overnights.
