As part of the Fortuna Realty Group, The Garden City Hotel is part of an expanding hotel group with a current property in New York City (Hotel Indigo in Chelsea) in addition to The Garden City Hotel. Food and Beverage

Restaurant Manager

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years of fine dining, upscale restaurant experience. You will have expertise in restaurant operations, personnel management, and employee training and development. You must be a dedicated hands-on trainer, who strives for and demands excellence, able to guide and teach staff to be fully knowledgeable of menus, sales and service. Excellent knowledge of menu design including cuisine, ingredients and wine is required. Proven financial skills and computer skills are required. Demonstrated leadership and team building are a must. You must also possess highly developed interpersonal and communications skills. The ability to diplomatically interface with all peers is essential. You will be able to work independently as well as part of a dynamic team. You will be fluid in your ability to multi-task and strategize against changing priorities. You must be able to remain calm under pressure and maintain a consistently high level of service standards. You must possess a strong dining room presence.

Polo Hostess/Host

Responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, courteously greet and escort guests to tables and assist in seating, ensuring Hotel standards of service. Assist in preparing the Restaurant for service and maintaining the cleanliness of the room at all times. Take reservations and maintain reservation book, assist in monitoring the guests’ needs. Only candidates with fine dining restaurant experience will be considered.

Polo Server

Become part of our fine dining service team in our newly opened Polo Steakhouse and Polo Lounge serving our valued clientele. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, take food and beverage orders, retrieve and serve alcoholic/non-alcoholic beverages and food orders to guest tables according to hotel specifications, courteously and efficiently. Ensure proper payments are received for all orders. Assist in the maintenance of the Restaurant area and equipment. Proven knowledge of menu items, wines and liquors is required. This position requires experience as a Server in an upscale, fine dining environment. Excellent interpersonal skills are required.

Polo Cocktail Server

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, take orders, retrieve and serve alcoholic, non-alcoholic beverages and small plates to guests, courteously and efficiently according to Hotel specifications. Assist in the maintenance of the outlet area and equipment. You must have fine dining restaurant experience and full knowledge of liquors and wines.

Polo Bus Attendant

Become part of our fine dining service team in our newly opened Polo Steakhouse and Polo Lounge serving our valued clientele. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, assist Captain and Server in providing quality food and beverage service to guests according to Hotel specifications, courteously and efficiently. Maintain cleanliness of tables, service areas and equipment. Stock all wares and equipment needed for service.

Line Cook

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, plan, prep, set up and provide quality service in all areas of food production for menu items and specials in the designated outlets in accordance with standards and plating guide specifications. Maintain organization, cleanliness and sanitation of work areas and equipment. You must have fine dining restaurant experience to be considered for this position.

Pastry Cook

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to plan, prep, set up and prepare quality products in all areas of the Pastry/Bake Shop to include, but not limited to, pastries, desserts, breads, ice creams, sorbets, creams, simple syrups, jams, displays/centerpieces in accordance with departmental quality standards and specifications. Maintain organization, cleanliness and sanitation of work areas and equipment.

Potwasher/Dishwasher

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, wash and sanitize pots, pans and other Kitchen utensils/equipment according to Hotel specifications and standards. Clean and maintain equipment in Pot washing/Dish washing/Kitchen/Cafeteria/Compactor/Storage areas. Assist in washing wares by operating the dishwashing machine. Complete other special cleaning projects as assigned.

Banquet Server

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: set up assigned tables, retrieve and serve alcoholic, non-alcoholic beverages and food orders to guest tables according to Hotel specifications and group requirements, courteously and efficiently. Take beverage orders and collect payments where specified. Maintain cleanliness and condition of work areas and equipment. Must have prior Banquet or Fine Dining Restaurant experience. Candidates should have good people skills and a pleasant personality. We are looking for experienced highly motivated individuals.

Convention Services Houseman, Part Time

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, set up designated function rooms to group's requirements in accordance with Hotel standards. Maintain cleanliness and working condition of all respective equipment, guest and service areas. Flexibility with scheduling is required. This is a guest contact position, you must have excellent interpersonal skills. Prior experience preferred.

Catering Receptionist, Part Time - Sat. & Sun. (10am–6:30pm)

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, set up designated function rooms to group's requirements in accordance with Hotel standards. Maintain cleanliness and working condition of all respective equipment, guest and service areas. Flexibility with scheduling is required. This is a guest contact position, you must have excellent interpersonal skills. Prior experience preferred.

Rooms Division

Guest Service Agent

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, check-in/check-out hotel guests courteously and efficiently; process all payments according to established hotel requirements; provide information and assistance to all guests and visitors; provide prompt, courteous and efficient handling of all requests for guest room reservations, changes, cancellations and information; provide prompt, courteous and efficient handling of all incoming calls and assistance for outgoing calls that transpire through PBX. Also play an integral part in assisting with emergencies, (fire, medical, power/system failure) by contacting the designated personnel for immediate assistance. This is a full time position that requires flexibility with scheduling. Hotel experience preferred.

Housekeeping Houseman (Overnight)

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, clean and maintain all corridors, vending areas, elevators and landings, and service areas on guest room floors, ensuring hotel's standards of cleanliness. Provide linen & glass supplies for Room Attendants and stock floor closets. Deliver and retrieve items requested by guests and Floor Supervisor. Complete other cleaning projects as assigned by Executive Housekeeper. Flexibility with scheduling is required.

Housekeeping Room Attendant

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, clean guest rooms as assigned, ensuring the hotel's established standards of cleanliness. Responsible for reporting any maintenance deficiencies and handling guest requests or complaints. Ensures the confidentiality and security of all guest rooms. Complete other cleaning projects as assigned by Executive Housekeeper. Flexibility with scheduling is required.

Administrative Assistant

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, greeting all guests/clients, and provide clerical/administrative support for the Sales Department and Executive Office, including typing, computer input, filing, tracing, answering telephones, printing reports and departmental records/logs.  Experience with heavy duty telephone calls a must.  Responsible for guest/client correspondence including contracts.  Knowledge of OPERA a plus.  Flexibility with scheduling is required.  Hotel experience preferred.

Security

House Officer, Part Time - will need to cover some overnight shifts

Monitors and patrols hotel to provide a safe environment for guests and employees and to minimize opportunities for loss or damage. Anticipates potential problems and reacts to disturbances and prohibited conduct both from guests, patrons and staff. Responds to emergency situations as needed. Responsible for ensuring policies and procedures are adhered to by staff and reports infractions to appropriate parties. Ideal candidate will have law enforcement background, must have NYS security guard license. Flexibility with scheduling required, must be able to work holidays, weekends and some overnights.
