Patrick Smalley
Executive Vice President
Patrick S. Smalley is executive vice president of The Garden City Hotel serving as chief business
manager and advisor on property strategies, hotel operations, sales and marketing, and finance.
Prior to joining The Garden City Hotel in 1996, Smalley spent ten years with real estate
investment banking firm Legg Mason Real Estate Services, Inc., last serving as a director
of real estate investments.
Smalley is active in community and civic affairs on Long Island. In 2007, he was elected
president of the Adelphi University Alumni Association having served as an executive board
member since 2005 and as a chairman of the Financial Resources Committee. He has been appointed
by the Mayor of Garden City to the Village's Business Planning Coalition, which developed a
plan for the revitalization of Garden City's business districts, and has been a board member
of Voices of Nassau, an organization seeking to improve business on Long Island. He stays
involved with the Waldorf School of Garden City, a private preparatory school for which he
served as a trustee, and regularly sponsors and hosts a series of private roundtables that
bring business and community together to explore solutions to challenges facing the interests
of Long Islanders.
Smalley's achievements have been recognized with honors. In 2005, he was the recipient of the
Adelphi University President's Award for his outstanding achievement and friendship; and the
Garden City Chamber of Commerce's Community Achievement Award for outstanding community service
through his professional work. In 2003, he was named Executive of the Year and honoree of the
50th Anniversary Gala of the Mental Health Association of Nassau County for his outstanding
leadership in business and service to the community.
Smalley holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in business communications from Adelphi University and
New York State licenses for general real estate appraiser and real estate broker. He is a member
of the Real Estate Board of New York.
