Nasser Samman
General Manager
As General Manager of The Garden City Hotel, Nasser Samman oversees daily operations of all departments of the hotel, including sales, guest services, human resources, housekeeping, property maintenance, accounting and food and beverage.
In addition to this, Samman is in charge of operating policy, maintaining inter-departmental relations, financial reports and identifying potential liabilities.
Samman joined The Garden City Hotel in 1997 as director of food and beverage operations. Samman spent two years in that position and was then promoted to Director of Hotel operations. In 2001, Samman achieved his current title as General Manager. Prior to joining The Garden City Hotel, Samman previously served as the Assistant Food and Beverage Director at The Grand Hyatt in New York City. He began his career at the Sheraton in Damascus, Syria.
The Hospitality Sales & Marketing Association International (HSMAI) Big Apple Chapter selected Nasser Samman as their “2004 General Manager of the Year.”
In April 2002, Samman received the New York State Senate Liberty Award for exceptional achievement for the people in New York for his work with a local relief fund to support 9/11 families. He has also served on the Board of Directors for the Long Island Hotel & Lodging Association (LIH&LA).

As a result, the luxurious Hotel recently won an award from Preferred Hotels and Resorts Worldwide for outstanding service and continues to be the leading choice for meetings and banquets alike among businesses, celebrities and those who request world-class hospitality.
As General Manager, Samman restructured the operation of the hotel to lower costs and maximize efficiency and as a result, profits and occupancy have increased.
Samman earned an Associate’s degree at New York City Technical College and was trained in hotel management at Damascus University in Syria, where he gained much of the experience he draws from today.
